The ZUBA Open Water class prepares adults, 16 years and older, for Zuba diving without supervision. The class certifies you in the proper use of equipment and proper Zuba diving techniques. The Zuba course incorporates Zuba diving theory, knowledge and equipment configuration with precise Zuba diving skills and emergency procedures. This class not only teaches you how to use the equipment, but it teaches you how to be a safe and environmentally aware Zuba diver.



  • Max depth is 20ft
  • ZUBA Open Water divers will earn a certification card and may purchase air fills and rent scuba cylinders
  • May upgrade to full Open Water Diver certification at any time.
  • Student materials are purchase separately ($39.95)



  1. Minimum age 16 years.
  2. Must be able to swim a distance of at least 20 feet/6 meters on a breath hold.
  3. Must demonstrate a swim of at least 50 yards/45 meters in less than 10 minutes without stopping and 5-minute survival swim/float.


Course Limits

  1. Maximum training depth 20 feet/6 meters.
  2. Each diver uses an independent Z-Float system
  3. Standard gas is Air (21% Oxygen)
  4. Maximum three Zuba training dives in one day, all dives to be during daylight hours
  5. No overhead environment diving
